Darren Hanlon’s new album 'I Will Love You At All' is out this Friday
Pop luminary Darren Hanlon will release his acclaimed fourth studio album I Will Love You At All this Friday 16 July 2010 via Flippin’ Yeah Industries/MGM.
Darren’s most honest and understated work to date, I Will Love You At All is a charming Australian songbook of gentle longing and reminiscence. The album features ten brilliant tracks, including charismatic first single ‘All These Things’, which is currently on triple j rotation, and new single ‘Modern History’.
To celebrate the release of I Will Love You At All, Darren will embark on an extensive album launch tour this August, playing album launches across Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, Fremantle, Darwin, Pomona, Bangalow, Armidale, Newcastle, Katoomba, Bulli, Broken Hill, Bourke, Lightning Ridge, Dubbo and Mudgee.
Darren will be supported by up and coming American songstress Shelley Short for all nineteen dates.
Hailing from Portland, Shelley Short is one of the city’s rising stars. Described as “Mazzy Star meets Emmylou Harris” (Giant Magazine), Shelley will sing in Darren’s band, and open proceedings each night performing her own enchanting alt-folk gems.
Written in a variety of exotic locations from Paris to Coonabarabran, the album was recorded at Type Foundry in Portland, Oregon by Adam Selzer (M Ward, She & Him, The Decemberists). Featuring Rachel Blumberg (Bright Eyes, M Ward, She & Him, The Decemberists) on drums – along with three additional drummers – the record also features long-time collaborator Cory Gray on keys, and vocalists Shelley Short and Alia Farah.
Following the 2006 release of his critically acclaimed album Fingertips and Mountaintops, Darren is also set to make a splash overseas releasing I Will Love You At All in the US on 21 September 2010 via seminal label Yep Roc Records (home to Loudon Wainwright III, The Apples in Stereo, Ron Sexsmith and Sloan).
I Will Love You At All is self described as Darren’s ’mature’ album. It is indeed further ripening of this uniquely rewarding storyteller.

“Here is a man who loves words, not just the sound of his own voice. And he makes those words into stories that seem like conversations you’ve walked in on or lives you have lived, unaware that someone was watching while you did it”.
- Bernard Zuel, Sydney Morning Herald
“There’s certain brilliance to Darren Hanlon. Under the polite and humble surface lies a spectacular songwriter”.
- A.H. Cayley, Mess & Noise
“The man who inspires ‘I wish I could have said that’ syndrome”.
– Bronwyn Thomspon, Rolling Stone
“Hanlon revels in the mundane with the childish exuberance of Jonathan Richman”.
- Marc Hogan, Pitchfork
“When it comes to wordplay, even the illest of hip-hop MCs don’t come close to Mister Hanlon”.
– Baz McAlister, Time Off
