Skinnyfish Music and the Atlas Agency are pleased to announce a national concert tour by the extraordinary, multi-award winning artist Gurrumul Yunupingu.
This concert tour will be the second time Gurrumul will take his talents to the national stage for a rare series of concerts starting on 24th August and concluding on 7th September, and the first time he will perform his own concert in Brisbane, Adelaide and Tasmania.
Gurrumul and his collaborator/producer Michael Hohnen will present a different show for this tour which reflects the full instrumentation showcased on "Rrakala".
"Gurrumul and I have been talking about the best way of presenting a special concert to a larger audience and the challenges of this. On "Rrakala" Gurrumul plays drums, electric and acoustic guitars and grand piano. %uFFFDI thought it was a touching but also a more varied performance at Bluesfest in Byron recently where some 8000 people simply stood, mesmerised, and listened for the entire hour, as if we were playing in their collective lounge room. This was a show where we had some extra people play with him - he loves playing with musicians backing him up," says Michael Hohnen.
"He is asking me who do I think would like to play with him in the different cities so I suppose the invitation is out there for each city.%u201D
Audiences will be treated to an integration of music from both his ARIA award-winning debut album %u2018Gurrumul%u2019, and the currrent album that is "Rrakala".
Gurrumul will be supported on this tour by young up-and-coming Tasmanian performer Dewayne Everettsmith.
