The Waifs new album due out March 4

The Waifs have just emerged from 10 days in a Minneapolis basement recording their sixth studio album.  After much deliberation and a short tour of the USA it was decided that a session in the studio would be worth the trip. A new set of songs and an itch to get back to it.

The Waifs have, through their various personal journeys, all ended up living in the USA.  So it made sense to record there.

In recent years, a touring career has played second fiddle to motherhood, marriage and studies.  However music has always remained essential, ongoing and entwined in their daily lives. As a result their new album presents a rich tapestry of melancholy parental laments, gospel pleas, "sweet as summer" love ditties and odes to addiction and marriage.

'Temptation' is glazed with the unmistakable harmonies of Donna Simpson and Vikki Thorn, driven by Josh Cunningham on all things stringed, along with long time rhythm section, musical partners Dave Macdonald (drums) and Ben Franz (bass).

"Traditionally recording has been stressful for us, we have three writers and rarely a collective vision. Maybe we have grown up a bit, learned a little patience and respect.  This time the recording experience felt very relaxed and everything flowed. This album is less disparate than some of our previous albums. As if by moving, literally, so far from each other, our music has come back together. We have found our sound, our voices, our rhythms again and rediscovered our love for playing it." Vikki Thorn

With six studio albums, two live albums, multiple ARIA Awards, countless festival appearances and over half a million albums sold locally, it will have been two years since they played to Australian fans, The Waifs will no doubt be a welcomed addition to the summer tour schedule in 2011.

Temptation is due in store 4 March 2011, independently through Jarrah Records and MGM and they will tour nationally through February and March 2011.
