New Album / New Tour & A
Brand New Pipe !
& PACKS A WALLOP! Australian Tour

In support of his brand new album PACKS A WALLOP, the one man experimentalist extravaganza that is Mike Silverman aka That 1 Guy is set to bring his intriguing and interactive live performances back to Australia this summer!
AND WITH A BRAND NEW PIPE !!!!
PACKS A WALLOP!, produced with famed sound engineer Billy Hume (Nelly, Shop Boyz, Lidacris), brings a new energy and depth to That 1 Guy’s famed low frequencies and heavy beats, once described by Relix Magazine as “so bombastic, they rattle china cabinets and dissolve kidney stones into the next zip code.”
Recorded at Hume’s studio in Atlanta, Georgia, PACKS A WALLOP! stretches That 1 Guy’s soundscapes further than ever. Whereas his last two albums, The Moon is Disgusting (2006) and Songs in the Key of Beotch (2000, re-released in 2004) were created from songs he had already performed, for PACKS A WALLOP!, That 1 Guy went into the studio with nothing but ideas, sleeping on a mattress upstairs so he could sneak in to the studio whenever he felt inspired. “I went in there with zero – nothing finished – and I lived there for a month. It was really hard work, really long days, and I forced myself to craft some stuff.”
The spontaneity, coupled with a tight window for completing the album, made all the difference. “Human beings do our best work when we’re challenged and pushed up against the wall,” That 1 Guy explains. “By nature, we’re hunters and gathers, spending each day looking for the next meal. It’s easy to be lazy when you don’t have to come up with something creative right away.”
PACKS A WALLOP! Australian Tour.
With a brand new album and a brand new pipe (!) (yes, you heard right!, only the third ever to be created) set to be unleashed on Australian audiences, That 1 Guy is excited about heading back down under. “I love touring all of Australia – the folks, the food, the laughs. New Years Eve 2009 at Woodford was a highlight, 15,000 folks jumping around – fun times.”
Centered around That 1 Guy’s inventive instrument, the Magic Pipe: a seven-foot tall collection of swiveling pipes, metal gears, bass strings and electronic buttons, all connected by a rainbow of colored-wires, That One Guy is music you have to see to believe, as thousands of fans worldwide will attest.
Playing up to 200 live shows per year, audiences around the world gather to see this mad scientist at work as he turns cowboy boots into electric instruments and cello bows into laser beams. With this worldwide album tour, That 1 Guy adds to an already impressive r%uFFFDsum%uFFFD of live shows, which includes performances at Big Day Out, Woodford Folk Festival, Glastonbury, Monterrey Jazz Festival, Lowlands, and many other international festivals.
And now he brings the tour back to Australia, where over the years he’s gained a strong affection for playing live. “Australia is a totally unique touring experience for me,” says That 1 Guy. “I feel that live music is taken more seriously in Oz, people travel to the big festivals and the music seems to spread faster.”
Catch That 1 Guy when he returns to Australia this summer in support of his new album PACKS A WALLOP!, supported by Sydney’s one-man-maestro Mr. Percival.
