MGM Distribution began in 1998, and since then we have enabled thousands of Australian artists to release their music, allowing them to combine their artistic freedom with financial and creative control. As an independent music distribution service, MGM offers a unique model for achieving business success in the Australian music industry.
Starting with a single album, 'Hot Dog Daiquiri' by Newcastle ska band The Porkers, we have gone on to work with every conceivable style of music and along the way have experienced many successes - John Butler Trio ‘Sunrise Over Sea’ being the first independently released local album to debut at #1 on the ARIA Album chart being a particularly exciting example.
A service provider at heart, MGM provides local artists with a mechanism to effectively distribute their music to physical and digital music stores, nationally and internationally. MGM is not, and has never been a record label and does not directly sign artists.
